HEINZ is adding some spirit to mealtimes — by launching a creamy pasta sauce with a shot of vodka.
Scientists at the food giant teamed up with drink experts at Absolut to create jars of tomato, basil, cheese and vodka.

They took their inspiration from supermodel Gigi Hadid, who posted a recipe for her favourite spicy pasta sauce to millions of followers in 2020.
A Heinz spokesman said: “Pasta alla vodka had one of its biggest moments in history when a certain supermodel and influencer created a viral sensation with her recipe.
“It soon became one of the trendiest recipes on TikTok and Instagram.
“Now Heinz and Absolut are bringing their own version of the much-loved dish to the masses.”
Chefs say vodka “unlocks the flavours” and intensifies the aroma of tomato, basil and cheese sauce.
Pasta fan Jonathan Eldon, 41, from High Wycombe, Bucks, said he couldn’t wait to try it.
He said: “Anything that gives a simple bowl of pasta a kick has got to be a good thing.”
Caio Fontenele, in charge of new ideas at Heinz, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing the first tomato-and-vodka pasta sauce to major UK supermarkets.
“It may have taken over 150 years of tomato expertise to launch our first pasta sauce, but we’re determined to innovate at the speed of social media trends.
“The combination of Heinz’s high-quality tomato sauces and Absolut’s premium vodka is set to offer fans the ultimate pasta alla vodka experience. The result is absolutely delicious!”
The 350g jars, priced at £2.50, are expected to go on sale at Waitrose next month.
