All iPhone and Android users must make easy Google Maps change to avoid ‘signal killer’ nightmare

THERE is a way to use Google Maps even when you’ve got no signal.

It’s an easy trick that is perfect for hikers or those with small mobile data plans.

Google Maps lets users download maps, so that they don’t have to rely solely on mobile data like 3G and 4G.

It particularly helpful to use abroad and avoid any pesky data roaming costs.

All users need is Google Maps downloaded on their iPhone, iPad or Android device and an internet connection.

If you’re using Google Maps in Safari, you should note that this trick doesn’t work if Incognito Mode is switched on.

On an iOS device, follow these steps:

Open your Google Maps appSearch for your required locationTap on the address or name of the locationIn the top-right corner, tap on the three dotsIn the pop-up window, tap Download offline mapMake sure the area shown is correct, if not, you can adjust it hereWhen you’re ready, tap Download

On an Android, follow these steps:

Open your Google Maps appSearch for your desired locationTap on the name or address of the locationAt the top-right, tap the three dotsIn the drop-down menu choose Download offline mapMake sure the area shown is correct and adjust it if notWhen you’re ready, tap Download

To see your libaray of downloaded maps, click the profile icon in the top right on the Google Maps app.

Then select Offline Maps from the menu.

From here, users can view, update, rename and delete their map selection.

Google will save your downloaded maps for up to 15 days before automatically deleting them.

So, be sure you make note of when you’ll lose access to them to avoid any unwanted hiccups while travelling.
