Ben Affleck reveals what he really told Jennifer Lopez during viral Grammys moment

Ben Affleck has finally opened up about what he and Jennifer Lopez were actually whispering about on Grammy’s night.

In his profile interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck, 50, addressed the video captured during the awards show that many interpreted to show Lopez scolding him for looking disinterested and bored

In fact, Affleck says there was no disagreement between him and his wife. He claims he had “a great time” at the Grammys, and was actually just teasing J.Lo.

“I saw [Grammy host Trevor Noah approach] and I was like, ‘Oh, God.’ They were framing us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling,” Affleck said.

“I leaned into her and I was like, ‘As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’ She goes, ‘You better f—ing not leave.’ That’s a husband-and-wife thing.”

The Good Will Hunting actor went on to say outtakes captured of him over the years have shown times where he’s genuinely zoned out, or not enjoying himself.

“Some of it is… ‘All right, who is this act?’ Like, I don’t keep up. My wife does, obviously. And yeah, it is your wife’s work event,” he said. “And I’ve gone to events and been pissed off. I’ve gone and been bored. I’ve gone to award shows and been drunk, a bunch. Nobody ever once said I’m drunk.”

At the time of the Grammys in February, Affleck turned into somewhat of a meme thanks to his telling expressions.

“Ben Affleck is every husband dragged to a work thing by his wife,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another shared: “Ben Affleck is every introvert everywhere. You can see his batteries draining in real time. Man is already at 23%. #SaveBen.”

In his profile, Affleck noted some people claimed he was drunk at the Grammys, which he thought was “interesting” given his recent admission he has struggled with alcoholism.

“That raises a whole other thing about whether or not it’s wise to acknowledge addiction because there’s a lot of compassion, but there is still a tremendous stigma, which is often quite inhibiting. I do think it disincentivises people from making their lives better,” he said.
