And one member of the team was overcome immediately after the triumph.

Amber, who works on the yard that the horse is trained in, was interviewed after the win and could not hold back the tears.

Speaking to ITV after the superb Cheltenham performance, she said: “It’s just so much work that we’ve put in. He’s so small but he’s so mighty.

“He’s got the heart of a lion, I’m just really emotional.”

Amber began to break down crying as the next question was posed to her.

She then gathered herself and added: “You can’t dream of things like this. Honestly, it’s just amazing.”

Jockey Skelton added: “He loves a race like this with a big field.

“We discussed which race to go for and thankfully we were in the right race. He likes the hustle and bustle.”

And Olympic equestrian gold medallist Nick Skelton, the father of winning jockey Harry and trainer Dan, added: “That was brilliant – it is a real family and a real team job. It is great for everyone.

“He ran great here a couple of seasons ago and last year got brought down when doing well.

“He is small but a real fighter and fought all the way to the line. Harry gave him a brilliant ride.”
