The white van man from Selsey, West Sussex, vowed to help the local community, friends and family.
And just over three years later, Steve hasn’t gone back on his word.
The dad-of-three and wife Lenka, 44, donated £200,000 in a bid to support their hometown.
Steve said at the time: “It’s so much money I’m going to be generous,
“I live in a small village, it’s a nice village, I don’t want to leave the village, so whatever I can do in the community, I will.”
They gave £50,000 to Selsey Medical Centre to help fund new equipment – which meant locals wouldn’t have to travel miles for appointments.
Steve then donated another £50k to his sons’ school.
The huge cricket fan also gave a whopping £100k to the local club for a new pavilion.
A source said: “He’s not the kind of guy who wants recognition for doing something good.
“When he won the jackpot, he said he would look after friends and the community.
“He’s certainly stuck to his word.”
Steve also invested a chunk of his win with the Queens bank, Coutts & Co.
They reportedly put “tens of millions” into a trust and could be set for another huge windfall in years to come.
After helping those around him, Steve treated his family to a lavish £4.5m estate.
Neighbours near the imposing 7,000 sq ft farmhouse in Kent include Hollywood actors, rockstars and an IT tycoon.
Steve wanted his kids to have their own rooms because they had to share in their previous three-bed council house.
He said at the time: “The kids have finally got their own bedrooms. It’s a simple thing but it was all they ever wished for.
“I still haven’t got over what happened to us and am honestly still trying to process it still.
“It feels like yesterday we were in our old lives — it will take a little while to adjust.
“We are very lucky to be in this place but there’s a lot of work that needs doing, so I’ll be focusing on that for the time being.”
Steve also continued working for a while as he promised to finish the jobs he had started for his customers.
