Why Kavarna?

While most Brits flock to Bulgaria‘s Sunny Beach, there is another seaside resort with beautiful beaches but without the crowds.

Kavarna is around 40 miles north of Varna, with direct flights from the UK.

Wizz Air operates direct flights from the UK to Varna, for as little as £18 each way.

And Bulgaria was named as one of the cheapest holiday destinations for Brits, according to the latest research from Love Holidays.

The country doesn’t use the euro, so you can get much more for your money when booking trips and when on holiday.

When booking a trip, the summer is the best time to visit, with highs of 27C across the coast.

What are the best Kavarna holiday deals?

Being off-the-beaten-track, UK tour operators are yet to offer many holiday deals, but there are still some amazing bargains.

Lastminute.com has seven-night deals with return flights for as little as £318.

If you fancy all-inclusive, you can stay at the Royal Grand Hotel & Spa hotel for less than £700 each, with flights included.

Or you can book your own hotels and apartments which start from £30, with Wizz Air flights from £38 return to Varna.

What is Kavarna like?

Kavarna has a huge man-made beach that was built in the 20th century.

Tourists often praise it as being “clean and not too overcrowded” as well as being good for kids.

There are also beach showers and restaurants and cafes along the pier, along with umbrellas you can rent for around £2.

Down the road is also Bendida Beach, which tourists have likened to Greece and said is the most “beautiful beach in the country”.

Tourists often climb Cape Chirakman or Bison Fortress for the best views of the resort.

The resort became popular in the Noughties due to the annual Kavarna Rockfest, which attracted acts such as Alice Cooper and Motorhead.

This ended in 2016, with the beach resort much more relaxing now.

What else do I need to know about Kavarna?

The local language in Kavarna is Bulgarian although people may speak English at the beach resorts.

Bulgaria is currently three hours ahead of the UK.

The local currency is the Bulgaria lev with £10 getting around 22 lev.

There are currently no Covid restrictions and Brits can stay in Bulgaria for up to 90 days without a visa.

However, your passport must have at least three months left after the day you plan to leave.
