People are just realizing iPhone lock button has secret function – it’s so useful once you find it

YOUR iPhone has a trick most people have probably missed.

It’s tucked away inside your iPhone side button – the one you use to lock your handset.

Despite being a single button, it’s got loads of functions.

When you click it once, it locks your handset. That’s commonly known.

If you click it twice, it launches straight into Apple Pay – so you can make a contactless payment.

If you hold it down, you’ll find that Siri is activated.

This lets you perform a voice command as if you’d said “Hey Siri” aloud.

But there’s an extra function: restarting your iPhone.

When Apple ditched the Home button with the iPhone X, it became impossible to just hold the side button down to switch your handset off.

That’s because holding it down brings up Siri.

But you can still turn your iPhone off using the button if you know how.

You simply need to press and hold the side button with either one of the volume buttons.

If you do it right, your iPhone will turn off and on again.

Of course that’s not the only way to restart your phone.

You can do it manually by going into the Settings app.

It involves you going into Settings > General and choosing Shut down.

Once your phone shuts down, you can hold the side button to turn it on again.

And if you’ve updated to the latest iOS 16 software (in Settings > General > Software Update), you can use a voice command to do it too.

Simply say “Hey Siri, restart my iPhone.”
