PASSENGERS have been warned to make sure their bags fit airline sizes, with some cracking down on those trying to bring bigger suitcases on board.
People often try to be clever or crafty when flying, to avoid paying extra for their hand luggage.

But one frequent traveller spotted staff being extra vigilant on a recent visit to Toronto’s Pearson airport.
Tiktoker Solmaz (@thecuriouscreature) warned her followers to make sure their bags would fit within Air Canada’s size dimensions, as airport workers were checking every passenger.
In a video, she said: “This is a PSA for anyone flying out of Pearson going with Air Canada.
“They are getting serious about their carry on luggage situation. People are just struggling here.
“I fly out of YYZ (Toronto Pearson) almost monthly and I’ve never seen them ask every single passenger to size their luggage and the wheels have to fit.
“So make sure before you head to the airport.”
The video has been seen more than half a million times, with people sharing similar experiences.
One said: “I literally have an Air Canada carry on suitcase and they’ve tried to tell me TWICE that its too big. Like COME ON.”
Another wrote: “Even if your bag fits they can still make you check it because there’s not enough room in the bins on a full flight!”
A third added: “I noticed this last week too!! I saw SO many people have to pay to check their bags.”
Air Canada aren’t the only airline to have been accused of getting stricter either with Frontier passengers recently suggesting the airline charged them for bags that fit easily in the size checkers.
One of the passengers, Dyana Villa (@dyanavilla.tv) filmed as much of the dispute as she could, to show everyone how easily their bags fit in the size checkers.
She shared the footage in a series of videos on Tiktok and claimed the airline were trying to charge $100 (£84) for the apparently “oversized” bags.
The women are seen repeatedly taking it in turns to slide their bags into the “personal item” bag size checker, with no real difficulty.
However, the airline’s gate staff disputed it, with one clearly telling the women that they were “pushing” their bags down to make them fit.
A Frontier spokesperson rejected Dyana’s version of events, saying: “The video fails to show that the customer using the sizer box had an additional carry-on bag.
“Each customer is allowed one free personal item that must fit within the smaller sizer box. This customer had more than one bag and they were not able to combine them into a single bag that fit in the personal item box.
“Allowing these customers to board without paying would be inequitable to every other customer who was already onboard with paid bags.”
However, a Frontier spokesperson also told The Independent that the airline paid bonuses to airline staff for every bag they charge for.
They said the fee is “simply an incentive for our airport customer service agents to help ensure compliance with our policies and that all customers are treated equally.”
Air Canada have been contacted for comment.
Other airlines are less strict about whether the bags can be shoved in the size checker or not.
Not too long ago, an easyJet passenger was filmed stamping on his suitcase to make sure it fit into metal frame.
The man went into great trouble to avoid having to pay for checked-in baggage and was determined to show that his bag was the right size for the cabin.
The incident was caught on video and shared to Tiktok, where it has been seen over 24million times.
Meanwhile, this woman dodged Ryanair’s hand luggage rules by sneaking a bag in under her coat.
And these Ryanair passengers were filmed snapping the wheels off their suitcases to make sure they fit.
