Jenna Ortega is gearing up for her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut, which involves some “Wednesday” references, of course. In the lead-up to the actor’s March 11 episode, the 20-year-old filmed a hilarious skit with the Please Don’t Destroy sketch comedy group, during which she tries to convince them not to make her do the viral “Wednesday” dance. However, that’s ultimately what she does by the end of the video. I mean, can you think of a better way to promote her big night on the show?
Following Ortega’s epic performance as the titular morbid character in Netflix’s hit “Wednesday” series, she reprises her 2022 “Scream” role as Tara in the sixth installment of the franchise, which hits theaters on Friday. But that’s not all we have to look forward to. She’s also set to star in her first rom-com, “Winter Spring Summer or Fall,” which she also produced, though the film doesn’t have a set release date yet.
In the meantime, there’s more of Ortega’s Wednesday headed our way, with Netflix already giving her show the green light for a second season. But somewhere in between then, the busy actor hopes to take some well-deserved time off. “There’s a month of this year that I want to take off, and I’ve made it very clear that I’m going to take this month off,” Ortega told Elle in her April 2023 cover story. “I’m going to travel . . . I’m just going to be hidden for a while.”
Before Ortega takes her brief hiatus from Hollywood, check out her new promo video for “Saturday Night Live” and tune in to see her hosting chops this weekend.
