Noel Gallagher’s old Jag is up for sale, but you’ll need to be a rock ‘n’ roll star to afford it

A stunning Jaguar Mark II previously owned by former Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher is up for sale at a dealer near Oxford, priced at almost £145,000.

The Jag originally rolled off the production line at the Browns Lane factory in Coventry as a regular four-door saloon car.

At the height of Brit-Pop in the late nineties, Oasis founder and guitarist, Noel Gallagher fancied a car that was a bit special and captured the Cool Britannia vibe.

This wasn’t going to be just any old ordinary car, specialist coachbuilders, Vicarage, fitted modern running gear into the Mk II, as well as carrying out a drophead conversion which resulted in removing the rear doors and extending the front doors.

However, there was a catch – Noel hadn’t passed his driving test.

The Jag project was expected to last around two years which gave Noel plenty of time to sort a licence.

But, in true rock ‘n’ roll style Noel forgot all about the car, and when it was delivered 24 months later he still hadn’t passed his test, so couldn’t legally get behind the wheel and enjoy his new motor.

Sadly, the Jag went into long-term storage, but was later recommissioned by Vicarage and then used in a music video (Flying On The Ground) for Noel’s spin-off band High Flying Birds.

The car was then acquired by Jaguar Land Rover Classic during 2022 and was used during Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, where it was used to drive sixties icon and supermodel Twiggy to Buckingham Palace.
