Secret WhatsApp mode lets you edit texts AFTER you send them – here’s how

WHATSAPP want to give people a chance to fix their hastily typed texts with an extraordinary new feature.

The messaging app is working on adding a secret mode that allows users to edit their messages after they’ve sent them.

WhatsApp is set to roll out their new editing feature

It will allow users to modify their messages for up to 15 minutes after sending

WhatsApp will reportedly roll out a new update that will give people a 15-minute grace period to modify their messages.

The trick will allow you to fix typos or repair any embarrassing errors you may have made – or words you regret writing.

But don’t get too cocky with your offhand replies just yet, as the exact release date of the new editing mode has not yet been confirmed.

However, a string of hints that it will emerge quite soon have been reported.

WhatsApp users have longed for the feature to be added, leaving them thrilled to hear it was “under development” last year.

Tech sleuths at WABetaInfo uncovered evidence that bosses were working on the edit element in June 2022.

WhatsApp regularly tests new features in the “beta” trial version of the app, which allowed boffins to dig up the info.

An insider at the messaging giant also uncovered the plans and shared a leaked screenshot showing the new function.

It appears as though users will be able to amend their message by holding it down – although the recipient will be aware that you have changed it.

The edit is said to be still in the early stages of the build so WhatsApp may make some more adjustments to the widget.

WhatsApp is always looking for ways to compete with its Apple rival, iMessage.

The built-in iPhone messenger now lets you unsend texts – just like WhatsApp.

But the iOS 16 update also added a text-message editor that will let you tweak missives up to 15 minutes after they’ve been sent.

That means iMessage has beaten WhatsApp to the feature.

If you want to try the latest WhatsApp features first, you can join the app beta.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp beta for your smartphone you need to go to Google Play on your Android and search for WhatsApp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.

Joining the WhatsApp beta on iOS is more difficult, and has limited capacity.
