Fury, 23, silenced The Problem Child with a split-decision victory in the Diriyah dust-up and earned himself a spot in the prestigious WBC rankings.

In a fight recap video, the Mexican governing body said: “‘With this win, Fury will be ranked in the World Boxing Council’s cruiserweight division, improving his record to 9-0, with 4 knockouts.”

Boxing purists were left aghast at the confirmation of Fury’s spot in the rankings, with one asking: “Well that’s a bit much, isn’t it?

Another said: “Giving either Jake Paul or Tommy Fury a WBC ranking is like giving a champions league spot to the winner of Soccer Aid.”

One asked: “How do you go into a ranking for beating a YouTuber?

“If I beat my dog at darts can I get into the Premier League of Darts? And this is why boxing is dead.”

Another chimed in: “Oh dear comes to mind!!”

Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson, was delighted to put the Paul saga of his career behind him.

“This fight was for you. This belt is for you Bambi I love you.

“I had a dream and a vision I would win this fight. No one believed me. Now I can stand up and everyone can take note.

“It’s my first main event at 23 years old. I had a world of pressure on me and I came through.
