NOT all tourists have the same idea of a good time when going on holiday.
While a lot of people like to laze by the pool, or top up their tan at the beach, there are others who simply like to be creeped out.

We’ve rounded up some of the weirdest places on earth that people will go to when on holiday.
Sedlec Ossuary, Prague
About an hour away from Prague is the small town of Sedlec – home to one of the world’s best known ossuaries, which is a container or room in which the bones of dead people are placed.
The ossuary in Sedlec is found in church where the bones are arranged into ornate displays in some instances, including a goblet arrangement and a decorative shield.
The ossuary is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people and is said to have influenced film maker Rob Zombie for his film House of 1,000 Corpses.

Pripyat, Ukraine
Pripyat is abandoned city in Ukraine that was deserted after the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster.
The town was created in 1970 specifically to house workers from the plant and was the closest town to the fourth reactor which famously exploded on April 26, 1986.
The town had to be evacuated and has remained frozen in town ever since – providing a living photograph of how things looked in that time.
Tourists would frequently visit the town prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has since prevented people from visiting the country – around 200,000 people visited the site in 2019.

Isla de las Munecas, Mexico
A disturbing exhibit just south of Mexico City with scary looking dolls somehow attracts people from all over the world.
The freaky spectacle is rumoured to have started when the island’s former owner found the body of a drowned girl, who he’d heard crying out for hell doll moments before.
He found a doll near her body and hung it up in a tree to pay respect. However, he claimed that he would then find a new doll hanging in the woods every time he would visit.
He then spookily died in the exact same spot as the girl and some people believe her spirit caused his death and that she still haunts the island.

Truk Lagoon, Micronesia
Under the sea in the Pacific Ocean lies an unintentional museum that tells the story of a World War II army base.
Divers have previously found decayed skulls, a seafloor littered with ammunition shells, a plane and a tank among a number of objects.
The shipwrecks and remains that are often explored by divers are sometimes known as the “Ghost Fleet of Truk Lagoon” by visitors.
French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and his team explored the lagoon for a film that was released in 1971, which saw its popularity soar.

Capuchin Catacombs, Palermo
The catacombs of the Capuchin monks in Palermo, Italy contains the bodies of around 8,000 people, most of whom are thought to be local luminaries.
In the late 16th century, the Capuchin monastery ran out of room in its purpose-built cemetery, so the monks started excavating the crypts and putting the bodies on display instead.
Influential people would ask to be displayed in certain clothing in their wills as they were added to the catacombs, while members of the clergy were displayed in specific outfits.
The final additions to the catacombs are from the 1930s, including two-year old Rosalia Lombardo, whose body looks eerily similar to how it did after it was embalmed nearly 100 years ago.
