Mohamed Salah was left in TEARS after being ripped into by Jose Mourinho in furious half-time rant while at Chelsea

MO SALAH was once burst into tears at Chelsea after a tongue-lashing from then boss Jose Mourinho, says John Obi Mikel.

Liverpool’s Egyptian superstar, 30, famously failed to make the cut at Stamford Bridge following his £11million arrival from Basel in 2014.

He spent two-and-a-half years with the Blues, but most of his spell there was out on loan with both Fiorentina and Roma following a difficult initial period under Mourinho.

Salah scored twice in his first five Premier League games for Chelsea.

But he failed to ever hit top form, and his emotions got the better of him one time after he was berated and subbed off by Mourinho following one below-par performance.

Nigerian Mikel opened up on Salah’s “bad game” for the Blues against Norwich in 2014 as he revealed how the incident left the forward crying.

He told Dubai Eye: “I think [Salah] was having a bad game and then obviously Mourinho came in and ripped into him, massively ripped into him.

“He was in tears, and what happened is [Mourinho] didn’t let him back onto the pitch in the second half. He took him off.

“It would have been easy to just take him off and say ‘you’re not playing well, off you go, sit down, you’re not going back onto the pitch.’

“But he ripped into him and took him off.”

Fortunately for Salah he has gone on to become one of the top talents on the planet at Liverpool.

He moved to Anfield in 2017 and has scored 174 goals in 286 games for the Reds.

And his efforts have also played a huge role in delivering a Premier League title, the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and the Club World Cup during that time.
