Man Utd owners may drop asking price as Glazers argue over selling figure with two Saudi bidders to join buyout battle

MANCHESTER UNITED owners the Glazers are reportedly divided over the asking price of the club.

The Red Devils bosses revealed back in November that they were open to selling the club after 17 years in charge.

The Glazer family have tasked American financial advisers The Raine Group with finding someone to purchase the club for a sum in the region of £6-7billion.

But according to The Mail, one of the brothers is privately insisting offers could be much lower.

And there are said to be members of the family who would be willing to accept a £5bn bid.

However, most of the Glazers remain confident a bidding war will increase the price of the club.

The family have not yet decided whether to sell the club in its entirety or retain a share.

But the same report states that two Saudi Arabian groups are set to enter the race to buy United.

Potential owners have been told to submit a single-paragraph offer consisting of the amount and percentage of equity, along with proof of funds.

So far, there is thought to be five serious candidates to take over the club.

The Raine Group are preparing to whittle down the various offers, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe the only businessperson to have publicly confirmed an interest.

The other bids are believed to be from countries such as the US, Qatar, China and Singapore.

A Qatari takeover is expected to be approved by Uefa despite Qatar Sports Investments owning Paris Saint-Germain.

Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is understood to be interested in United and could be willing to pay as much as £5bn.

UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body is reportedly set to approve the Qataris dual ownership providing Sheikh Tamim is a “hands-off figure”.

There is previous for this kind of ruling given RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig are both run by Red Bull.
