MICROSOFT is investigating another issue affecting Outlook users across the globe.

The popular email service was hit by an outage just as people sign on for work.

It’s preventing users from sending or receiving emails.

Tech giant Microsoft has confirmed there is a problem with its systems.

The firm admitted that a “recent change” was the cause of it.

“Our targeted resources are progressing, and we’ve seen slight improvement in some environments,” the company said.

“Can’t access servers or receive an email for several hours now,” one frustrated user tweeted.

“I’ve got deadlines and vendors to manage but no dice,” another said.

According to Microsoft’s own status service page, users are not only unable to send or receive emails, they can’t even search Outlook.

“Users primarily located in the North American region attempting to access Outlook.com may be unable to send, receive, or search email. Additional functionality such as the calendar consumed by other services such as Microsoft Teams would also be affected,” the site says.

“Users in additional regions beyond North America may experience some residual impact due to the affected portions of infrastructure in North America.

“We’ve begun observing gradual improvement from this issue for users located in some of the additional affected regions.

“We’re continuing to perform targeted restart operations on the primarily affected infrastructure in North America in order to restore the availability of the service.”

It’s the second time Outlook has gone down in the space of two weeks.

On January 25, a far wider outage knocked not only Outlook offline, but also Teams and OneDrive.

Why is Outlook down?

Microsoft has said it made some changes to its systems which apparently caused problems.

Experts have had to do a “restart” to get things up and running again.

Who is affected by the Outlook outage?

It seems most affected users are in North America.

But Microsoft has said that users in other parts of the world may experience “some residual impact”.
