He led them to an 11th place finish in first full campaign in charge, but paid the price with Saints inside the relegation zone.

Hasenhuttl managed RB Leipzig prior to taking the Southampton job.

And now Florian Plettenberg claims that he’s Hoffenheim‘s No.1 target after they sacked Andre Breitenreiter following their 5-2 weekend defeat.

The strugglers are currently 14th in the Bundesliga and were embarrassed by VfL Bochum on Saturday.

The German club have only managed five league wins all season and have collected just TWO points from possible 27.

Meanwhile, Hasenhuttl’s predecessor at Southampton, Nathan Jones, is already losing faith in his squad.

Jones is set to remain at St Mary’s, but his own position was discussed by the Saints board over the weekend following his comments after the Brentford defeat.

Jones has lost six of seven games in charge with Saints bottom of the Premier League.
