Troy See played hide and seek with bosses after refusing to hand over his mobile phone during a sweep of the weighing room.

Jockey see was banned for two years after refusing to hand over his phone – before hiding under a truck and escaping in a car

He was called in by stewards after they found him in possession over a mobile during a meeting.

When asked to hand it over, he refused and sprinted off into the car park.

Two stewards chased after him, only to find him crawling out from under the cabin of a truck.

See then jumped into a car that sped off with two other people inside.

Jockeys are not allowed to use their phone during meetings in Australia.

The stewards’ report read: “During the course of the Murwillumbah race meeting a random search was conducted by Racing NSW investigator (Matthew) Johnson where a mobile phone was detected in the possession of Mr See whilst present in the jockeys’ room.

“During the investigation stewards used their powers pursuant to AR22(d) and took possession of his mobile phone.

“He was advised by stewards that the phone would be retained for examination.

“The phone was returned to him to write down the contact details he would require while the phone was being examined.

“After writing down the contact details he left the stewards’ room with the phone in his possession.

“Stipendiary steward Ms Tara Vanderstok requested that he return to the enquiry room.

“He refused to do so and continued to walk away from Ms Vanderstok with the phone in his possession.

“Ms Vanderstock directed that he returned the phone to her, which he refused.

“See then walked into the car park and hid under the cabin of a truck.

“On seeing Racing NSW officials investigator Mr Matthew Johnson and stipendiary steward Ben Watling he walked away from where he was hiding and walked between other trucks where he was stopped by Mr Johnson and Mr Watling.

“At this time he indicated to those officials that he would not be complying with the stewards direction and that he was leaving the racecourse.

“He walked away from both Mr Johnson and Mr Watling where he entered a car with two people in it and left the racecourse with the mobile phone still in his possession.”

Stewards charged See with three offences and banned him for a total of 22 months and two weeks.

The jockey, who had just one race on the card, was also fined £285.
