Leicester have made a £15m bid for Stoke defender Harry SouttarRex

And Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers, a long-term admirer, has made a late move to bring the Aberdeen-born centre-back to the King Power Stadium.

Souttar would become the Foxes’ third January signing following the arrivals of left-back Victor Kristiansen and winger Tete.

Stoke could move for Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards, 19, as a replacement for Souttar.

The 6ft 6in Australia international has played 13 times for his country since making his debut in 2019.

Souttar swapped Dundee United for Stoke City in 2017.

But he had to spend time on loan at Ross County and Fleetwood Town before making his debut in 2020.

Souttar has gone on to play 70 times for the Championship outfit.

And he now looks set to make the step up to the Premier League with Leicester.

Boss Rodgers is on the hunt for a new centre-back to replace Atletico Madrid-bound Caglar Soyuncu.

It will trigger a transfer merry-go-round, with the Turk’s arrival allowing Atleti to sell Felipe to Nottingham Forest.

And should a deal go through, Souttar could be thrust into the Leicester XI for this weekend’s derby at Aston Villa.
