Man City will bid for £20m Fulham star Antonee Robinson as Pep Guardiola finds Joao Cancelo transfer replacement

MANCHESTER CITY will make a return bid for Antonee Robinson in the summer after being quoted £20million for the Fulham left-back.

City had already inquired about the American international before Joao Cancelo’s shock exit, but plan to step up their efforts at the end of the season.

Cancelo’s fall-out with Pep Guardiola prompted him to be shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich, with City in the market for another full-back.

The Etihad giants had already identified Robinson as a suitable option.

It is suggested City will put in a bid to test Fulham’s resolve.

Robinson – who joined Fulham for £2m from Wigan in 2020 – would fill the gap at left-back created by Cancelo following Oleksandr Zinchenko out of the exit door.

The 33-cap American international was linked with both AC Milan and city-rivals Inter at the end of 2022 as the ex-Everton youth ace starred in all four USA matches at the World Cup.

Milton Keynes-born and part-time magician Robinson has started 18 of Fulham’s Premier League matches this term.

However, he is yet to record a goal or assist in any of his 46 top-flight matches across his two campaigns.

Reports on Monday also linked City with a move for Ben Chilwell as a shock alternative.

The Citizens missed out on Chilwell and Marc Cucurella in recent years – with both left-backs going to Chelsea in big-money moves.

It means City have been playing Nathan Ake as an emergency cover in the position.

Guardiola also has Sergio Gomez as well as Ayermic Laporte who can fill in when required – while Kyle Walker and Rico Lewis offer options on the right.

Cancelo’s sudden exit was triggered by a reported training ground bust-up with Guardiola after being dropped from the starting XI.

The Portuguese ace will now join Bayern on loan with a £62m option to buy – after blocking several fan accounts on Twitter as the exit turned bitter.
