Bournemouth’s transfer for Nicolas Jackson collapses at last-minute after Villarreal forward fails medical

BOURNEMOUTH’s proposed transfer of Villarreal ace Nicolas Jackson has reportedly collapsed at the last minute after the forward failed a medical.

The Cherries are hoping to boost their chances of survival by dipping into the transfer market following the takeover from Bill Foley.

Manager Gary O’Neil has already been backed to the tune of £28.7million worth of players.

Lorient winger Dango Ouattara, 20, joined in a £19.7m transfer.

Bristol City ace Antoine Semenyo followed on Friday with the Ghana World Cup star costing just under £10m.

And goalkeeper Darren Randolph joined the South Coast club on a free transfer from West Ham.

Villarreal star Jackson was set to be the next attacking reinforcement, however the 21-year-old failed a medical, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Jackson failed a medical after doctors determined he would be out of action until March 10 with a hamstring injury – not the expected February 10 return date.

That would leave the player just 12 games to help Bournemouth keep their place in the Premier League.

The Cherries are currently occupying 18th, and should they finish there or lower, they will drop into the Championship.

One or two wins could see Bournemouth leapfrog relegation rivals Wolves, West Ham, Leeds or Leicester though.

Bournemouth’s next league outing is away at Brighton on February 4.
