Muzza took five hours and 45 minutes to beat Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis 4-6 6-7 7-6 6-3 7-5 on the Margaret Court Arena.
The five-time Oz Open finalist blasted tournament officials for preventing him from taking a toilet break in the final set of an extraordinary clash as he had used up his allocation.
He said: “I understand obviously the rules on the Tour with the toilet breaks and the bathroom breaks.
“But you know, it’s three in the morning and I’ve been drinking all day.
“I need to go to the toilet and it’s just obviously frustrating in that moment.
“You don’t want people taking advantage of the rules but when you’re sticking players on the court at 3-4am then sometimes there needs to be a little bit of leeway.”
Only one other match at this tournament had ever finished later and that was the famous Lleyton Hewitt win over Marcos Baghdatis in 2008, which ended at 4.34am.
Murray added: “It ended in a bit of a farce. Amazingly people stayed until the end, and I really appreciate people doing that.

“Some people obviously need to work the following day and everything.
“But if my child was a ball kid for a tournament and they’re coming home at five in the morning, as a parent, I’m snapping at that.
“It’s not beneficial for them. It’s not beneficial for the umpires, the officials.
“I don’t think it’s amazing for the fans. It’s not good for the players.
“When you start the night matches late and have conditions like that, these things are going to happen.”
The former world No.1 will now face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the last 32 on Saturday.
