A POPULAR holiday hotspot with Brits has introduced some of the strictest smoking rules in the world.
Mexico has banned all smoking in public spaces, which includes beaches and hotels.

The new measures were first approved in 2021 and are now in place.
The ban also includes vaping and e-cigarettes.
This means people can only smoke in their own homes going forward.
The smoking ban is one of the strictest in the world, with the restrictions affecting all public spaces.
Tourists face fines between $50 (£40) and $300 (£242) is caught smoking in public.
Anyone who refuses to stop could also be jailed for 36 hours.
The new rules, part of Mexico’s General Law for Tobacco Control, also ban advertising and promotion of any tobacco products.
While strict, there are other holiday hotspots that ban smoking.
Brits heading to Santa Cruz in Tenerife could be fined up to £2,660 for smoking on the beaches.
Several Spanish tourist hotspots, including Barcelona and the Canary Islands also have the ban in place.

Thailand has some of the strictest laws for anyone caught vaping.
Tourists face being jailed for up to 10 years if caught using e-cigarettes, or face fines of 30,000 baht (£700).
