MANCHESTER UNITED have already won more games under Erik ten Hag than they managed in the WHOLE of last season.
The Dutchman inherited a Red Devils team that had secured their worst ever Premier League points tally.
Things got off to a rocky start, with United beginning the campaign with a 2-1 home defeat by Brighton and 4-0 humiliation at Brentford.
But methodical Ten Hag, 52, has set about transforming the culture at Old Trafford.
Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City took the Red Devils to within one point of the reigning Prem champions in the table.
The triumph was United’s 21st win in 29 games in all competitions this campaign – more than they managed during the entirety of last season.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then Ralf Rangnick, United won a paltry 20 matches out of 48 last season in all competitions.
They went trophyless, while achieving their worst ever points tally in a Prem season (58).
Having bagged 49 goals by the season’s halfway point, United are well on their way to beating last season’s total of 71.
Ten Hag has also tightened up his side’s previously leaky defence.

Man United legend Gary Neville is “mesmerised” by what Ten Hag has done with his former club.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I thought it was a risk at the time when I heard that story, you know what players are like and there was the spirit at the time.
“I’m mesmerised by the job Ten Hag has done. If you’d have said to me four months ago this is where Man Utd will be, I’d have said no chance.
I thought they were absolutely nowhere near

“I’d have said they’re finishing halfway down the table, the way they were.
“Coming off the back of last season, the start of this season, I thought they were absolutely nowhere near.
“I thought they overpaid for Antony, I thought they overpaid for Casemiro. It looked like the usual Man Utd panic.
“So it’s worth noting in moments like this that we shouldn’t go too far, but the job the manager has done not only on the pitch but with the players, how he’s brought them together and that spirit, the way he’s dealt with big situations.”
