The ship will be a co-collaboration between Orient Express’ owner (Accor) and Chantiers de l’Atlantique – a shipbuilding company.

Inspired by the golden age of the French Riviera, the 220 metre ship has been in the works since 2018.

There will be 54 suites onboard including a presidential suite with a private terrace.

In addition to the rooms, there will also be two swimming pools, restaurants, and a speakeasy bar.

Other features include a private recording studio and a wellness studio with spa treatments and meditation sessions.

The Orient Express Silenseas is expected to set sail in 2026 and will stop in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

According to Conde Nast Traveller, Accor’s boss Sébastien Bazin said: “We are beginning a new chapter in our history, taking the experience and excellence of luxury travel and transposing it onto the world’s most beautiful seas.

“This exceptional sailing yacht, with roots in Orient Express’ history, will offer unparalleled service and refined design spaces, reminiscent of the golden age of mythical cruises.

Innovation is at the heart of this ultra-modern ship that will revolutionise the maritime world with new technology to meet today’s sustainability challenges.”

Meanwhile a £1billion cruise ship called the Symphony of the Seas is home to 19 swimming pools, two surf lagoons, an ice-cream shop, theatre shows, glow in the dark laser tag and 6,680 passengers.

Last year Royal Caribbean unveiled the world’s biggest cruise ship the Icon of the Seas, which is capable of carrying 7,600 passengers and costs more than £2 Billion.

One American man has bought an apartment on a cruise ship.

Austin Wells from San Diego paid $300,000 (£246,465) for a studio with a 12-year lease onboard the MV Narrative – a mega cruise ship with 500 private rooms and apartments.
