RESIDENTS were left outraged over bungling council workers’ slapdash job resurfacing their streets.
Locals on McBryde Street in Melbourne, Australia, were given only a few days’ notice about their roads being redone – and not everyone got the memo.

When the contractors arrived to lay the new pavement, not all cars had been moved off the road.
Instead of coming back on another day or asking the car owners to move their vehicles, they decided to lay the new road around the parked cars.
Patt Gibbs lives on McBryde Street and told 9News that the job looks “stupid”.
Neighbour Monica Hodgkinson agreed: “The street is probably in a worse state then it was to start with.
“It’s disappointing, because now the street is a mess.”
The council has issued an apology for what many are calling “lazy work”.
A Merri-Bek City Council spokesman said: “We took the opportunity to complete these works more quickly when resources were available, which resulted in less notice being provided to residents.
“We apologise to residents for the inconvenience.”
Dean Hurlston from Ratepayers, an organisation built around bettering local councils, said residents are getting fed-up with councils in the state of Victoria.
“What we keep seeing from councils is money wasted and poor delivery, they really have to get their act together and start delivering quality to the community,” he said.
A Merri-Bek City Council spokesperson said workers will return to complete the works during the summer period, but has given no official date.
In 2019, Melbourne City Council paved around another parked car on Blackburn Road in central Melbourne.
In 2018, UK residents in Northampton were appalled when council workers painted new yellow lines over heaps of rubbish.
The variety of debris included cigarette packets, a red bull can and even soiled wet wipes.
Niall Skinner said: “It’s disgraceful to look at. There’s been no communication.
“Couldn’t the workmen have called the borough council and said ‘hey, we’re painting the roads down here today, can you come and clean it first?’”
