A COUPLE has revealed how it was cheaper to go on holiday for a month than to stay in the UK due to the cost of living crisis.
Brenda, 60 and John-Stewart-Davis, 70 booked the bargain break with easyJet Holidays, which was a 28-day stay to at the Stella Garden Resort in Hurghada, Egypt.

The cheap holidays – which were sold in very short supply – cost just £650 per person, which included return flights, luggage, airport transfers and all-inclusive food and drink.
The couple, who are retired, managed to find it even cheaper, costing £609 each, working out to £21.74 each per day.
Brenda, from Kent, told the Independent: “We’ve switched our heating off, so our electricity and gas bills will be on the service charges, really.
“Because we’re retired we’re indoors all day, so we would have the heating on.
“Now we’re sitting without coats on in flip-flops.”
She also said that they would usually spend around £100-£200 a week on groceries and dining out, and are also saving on petrol and utilities.
The only thing they had to pay on top was money for tipping and a $25 visa on arrival.
While the hotel is far from the main attractions of Egypt, the hotel has eight swimming pools, as well as bars and a nightclub to keep you occupied.
However, the pair, who were just one of 12 people who nabbed one of the cheap 28-day breaks – said it was “fabulous” thanks to the weather and the hotel staff, and had “no complaints”.
They aren’t the only couple to sing the cheap holiday’s praises as a way of avoiding the current cost of living crisis in the UK.
Karl, from Manchester, said that while they might not be saving anything, it was cheaper when factoring in the dining out at restaurants every night as they “weren’t having to cook” for themselves.
Another couple paid £1,200 each for the same 28-day break but still said they were saving money.
Helen and Terry Bateman, from Gloucestershire, said “You can’t live at home for that.”
On The Beach also launched their own cheap long holidays abroad with a 3-month Turkey break for just £19 a day.
Here are some other all-inclusive winter sun holiday deals.
