Liverpool 2 Wolves 2: Nunez and Salah spare Alisson’s blushes after blunder but visitors peg Reds back to force replay

LIVERPOOL and Wolves will meet again later this month in an FA Cup third round replay following a frenetic 2-2 draw at Anfield this evening.

Despite being bumped to ITV4 for The Masked Singer and Ant and Dec, both sides played their parts in an entertaining, back and forth affair.

Wolves took the lead in bizarre circumstances on 26 minutes, when Alisson passed the ball straight to Goncalo Guedes, who made no mistake in whacking the ball past him.

Liverpool equalised on the stroke of half-time, Darwin Nunez providing an uncharacteristically calm first time finish from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliant pass.

The Reds then took the lead seven minutes after the break through Mo Salah’s calm finish.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are on the up, however, and came roaring back – with Hwang Hee-chan’s untidy finish restoring parity on 66 minutes.

Liverpool then had a lucky escape with ten minutes remaining, when a potential Wolves winner was controversially disallowed for offside.

Both sides pushed to try and edge ahead – but the matter will have to be resolves at Molineux in a week and a half’s time.
