Deathverse: Let it Die to go offline after just seven months

THE developer of Deathverse: Let it Die has announced that the game will shut down less than a year from launch.

Originally released on September 28, on PlayStation and October 5, 2022, on PC, Deathverse: Let it Die is a free-to-play game.

It is based on Let it Die, a 2016 hack-and-slash action game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio behind No More Heroes.

Supertrick Games, the studio that created the free-to-play game, is a spin-off studio of Grasshopper Manufacture.

Grasshopper is well known as it was founded by Suda 51, a creator known for his bombastic style of games.

While Deathverse saw initial success, in the last 30 days it has only seen around 50 concurrent players on Steam at its peak.

A statement released by the publisher and developer reads: “GungHo Online Entertainment and Supertrick games announced today that they will be suspending service for Deathverse: Let it Die later this year.

“This will involve a commitment to reexamining core mechanics of the game and significantly improving it for eventual re-release.”

Microtransactions, known as Death Metals, will be pulled from the in-game store on February 7.

This is to prepare for the game going offline on July 18, 2023.

While the companies claim that the game will eventually be re-released, there is no current timeline for when this would be.

The statement ends with the companies thanking their current player base.

It reads: “The GoE and Supertrick team would like to thank all the players and press who’ve enjoyed and supported Deathverse: Let it Die.

“We invite everyone to follow the new developments with the game on our official Let it Die Twitter.”

When Deathverse goes offline it will have been less than eight months since it was officially released.

This is similar to the timeline of another live service game that launched last year; Babylon’s Fall.
