A LOW storage warning is an iPhone users’ nightmare.
It means you can’t update to the latest software, download more apps or take more photos and videos.

But there are a couple of ways to unlock more – without forking out cash to buy a new iPhone with more storage space.
One easy – and free – fix is optimising your iPhone’s photos and videos.
It requires the use of Apple’s iCloud feature, which stores the bulk of data from your photos and videos off of your device.
Precious pictures and videos will remain on your phone, but the full-resolution versions will be stored in your iCloud.
To access the full-resolution versions, simply click on the photo on your phone and wait for the more detailed image to load in from the cloud.
To optimise your photos and videos, go to Settings > Photos and turn on the toggle for Optimise iPhone Storage.
For this to work, you’ll need to have the iCloud Photos setting above it enabled.
This could take some time to complete, depending on how many pictures and videos there are.
A cheap but not completely free alternative is to pay for a monthly subscription for iCloud storage.
Prices range from £0.79/ $0.99 a month for 50GB to £6.99/ $9.99 a month for 2 terabytes.
To upgrade your iCloud on your iPhone, go to Settings > (your name) > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Buy More Storage.
While it costs money, it is far cheaper and easier than buying and setting up a new device.
Or, ultimately, you could offload your biggest apps and videos, delete old conversations and even old music.
By going into your iPhone’s Settings, you can check which apps are eating into your storage the most.
Head to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see a full break-down of how your iPhone’s storage is being used.
