His performances have attracted attention from several clubs but Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to hold onto the 24-year-old.

According to Sky Germany, United are “highly interested” in signing Muani as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

But they could face a challenge for his signature with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund rumoured to be keen.

They also face an obstacle in the form of his reported £80million asking price.

United would be prepared to pay £53m for the forward.

Muani only signed for Frankfurt in the summer and penned a five-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Frankfurt sports director Markus Krösche ruled out Muani’s departure, saying: “We will not sell Kolo Muani.”

It is also believed Muani wants to stay at Frankfurt beyond the summer as long as they qualify for European football.
