Why did Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United?
Cristiano Ronaldo left Man Utd in November 2022, causing a stir in the football world.
The now-former United star sat down with The Sun columnist and TalkTV host, Piers Morgan.
In the exclusive interview, he said that the team has betrayed him.
Speaking to Piers, Ronaldo also said that United have made him feel like a black sheep, and is being blamed for everything that has gone wrong at the club.
United have had three managers in just one year, with Erik ten Hag as the current one.
But Ronaldo had little good to say about him, saying there hasn’t been mutual respect between Hag and him.
Following the explosive interview Ronald left Manchester United replacing it for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr.
Why did Cristiano Ronaldo join Al-Nassr?
Ronaldo stated that he received a lot of offers from different clubs from Brazil, Portugal and the United States.
But, he said that he gave his word to Al-Nassr, and after playing for the top clubs in Europe, now it was time for a new challenge- Asia.
Ahead of his unveiling, the 37-year-old was greeted by a capacity crowd of 25,000 at a raucous Mrsool Park in Riyad, along with a spectacular light show.
The Twitter account of Al-Nassr put a video of the ceremony, with the caption, “The GOAT (Greatest of all time) has arrived”
Before walking onto the pitch to greet his new fans, Ronaldo said in a press conference: ” I feel so proud to make this big decision in my life.”
Al Nassr is coached by Rudi Garcia, who previously managed Lille, Roma, Marseille and Lyon.
They are top of the league this season after 11 games.
The team must win the league this season to qualify for the 2023-24 Asian Champions League.
How much will Cristiano Ronaldo earn at Al-Nassr?
After signing his two-year contract with All-Nassr, the Portuguese player will reportedly earn £160m per year, making him the highest-paid football player in the world.
That is £100m more than what he used to earn playing for United.
Ronald said that it is a “unique contract for a unique player”, and that he does not care what will people think or say.
He will also aim to win a league title in a fourth different country after winning seven domestic championships in England, Spain and Italy.
