Classic Aston Martin owned by Brunei royalty goes up for sale with a tiny mileage and a staggering price tag

AN Aston Martin owned by the Brunei royal family has gone up for sale with a massive price tag.

The 1997 Aston Martin V550 has recently had £50,000 spent fixing it up, but that’s nowhere near what you’ll need to buy it.

The rare Aston is actually up for sale with PistonHeads for a staggering £240,000.

Fewer than 240 V550s were ever built and this has to be one of the best survivors with only 4470 miles on the clock.

Back in the day the V550 had the most powerful engine of any production car, with 550hp from its 5.3-litre V8.

Two superchargers helped it get to 60mph from a standstill in 4.6 seconds and reach 186mph.

The Sultan of Brunei is famous for his vast car collection, which was mostly sourced and owned by his brother prince Jefri Bolkiah.

That’s the name of the first registered owner for this particular car.

As part of the car’s recent £50,000 overhaul the Brunei royal family’s stripes were removed and the car given a complete respray.

The advert goes on: ‘There are rafts of paperwork from Aston Martin Works with all new hoses, belts, rubbers, bushes, gaskets, weather seals, gas strut stays, lamps etc.

‘Essentially anything that wouldn’t love the hot climate in the far East was replaced.’
