My baby was born when I was fighting for my life – she’s my little miracle

A MUM has hailed her baby girl, born while she was in a coma with a brain haemorrhage, as a “little miracle”.

Natalie Doye, 25, was 39 weeks pregnant when she collapsed at home and was airlifted to hospital where doctors performed an emergency caesarean section.

Her baby, Gracie, was delivered safely but Natalie has no memory of the moment she first met her.

She told The Sun: “Gracie is my little miracle, she’s so lovely and completely beautiful.

“I can’t remember anything from the moment I blacked out at home until the moment I woke up in hospital.

“I can’t remember being handed Gracie at all.

“I don’t remember much of that day.

“I never got that moment I always dreamed of, the moment when you are handed your newborn baby.

“I’m devastated. But she’s such a gentle and calm baby, I’m so fortunate to have that with all that’s been going on.

“It’s been so hard but I’m so pleased we can all be at home for the new year.”

The former assembly line worker of Waterlooville, Hants, was found slumped against a wall at home by her boyfriend, car trader Joseph Forrest, 27, on October 29.

She was taken to hospital by air ambulance where doctors put her in a medically induced coma.

After Gracie’s delivery on October 30, Natalie had six hours of brain surgery to treat her aneurysm.

She was in a coma for three days and spent 11 days in hospital recovering.

She added: “It has been hard.

“Most of the advice given by the physical therapists is to rest and get a lot of sleep, which doesn’t really work when you’ve got a newborn.

“My partner has had to take on the role of both mother and father which has been hard. I’m not back to normal.

“I can’t go out too far. My biggest trip is to the shops but even then I don’t go often.

“But what matters most is that we are all safe and together with our beautiful baby girl.”
