The fab three! Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis faced many ups and downs in 2022 — but they have remained close through it all.
Prince William and Princess Kate’s three children enjoyed sporting events with their parents, attended festive holiday services and posed for birthday portraits reminiscent of years’ past.
However, once June came around, the little ones’ schedules were packed with celebrations in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Her Majesty was honored throughout the month after reaching her 70th year on the British throne.
Charlotte, 7, stole the show during the final day of the Platinum Jubilee events when she was spotted correcting George, 9, while standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony. As the British national anthem played for the crowd the princess was seen nudging her older brother when she noticed he was resting his hand on the balcony.
George took the hint and quickly straightened up and moved his arms to his side as the siblings enjoyed the rest of the show. Earlier that week, Louis, 4, went viral when he was photographed covering his ears during the Trooping the Colour Parade.
“What a fantastic weekend of celebrations. Seeing people across the nation coming together with family, friends and loved ones has been extremely special,” the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 40, tweeted after the week-long festivities. “Thank you to everyone who turned out to show their gratitude to The Queen and her inspiring 70 years of leadership. From the crowds on the Mall to communities hosting street parties up and down the country, we hope you had a weekend to remember.”
The twosome seemingly commented on Louis’ memorable balcony moment, adding, “We all had an incredible time, especially Louis… .”
The following month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that George, who is now second in line for the throne, was a “hard worker” and “very protective” older brother.
“He’s very sociable and can chat for hours about his favorite soccer players, plus he loves rugby, cricket, all forms of sports really,” the insider said in July, adding that he and his father bond over their shared passions. “He’s definitely a daddy’s boy. It’s not just their physical resemblance, they’ve got a ton of the same interests and hobbies in common – even helicopters!”
While George is still just a kid, he had to tap into his grown-up side in September when his great-grandmother Elizabeth died at age 96. Both George and Charlotte were in attendance for the late queen’s memorial service, but Louis stayed home.
“Kate and William flip-flopped over whether Louis should attend the queen’s funeral,” a source exclusively told Us at the time, noting that William and Kate “came to the conclusion that the procession and service would be too lengthy and overwhelming for their youngest to handle and digest.”
The Wales family ended the year on a high note by attending the annual Christmas Day service in England alongside King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
