CCTV cameras from residents’ homes have captured numerous vehicles smashing into the obstacle.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council had cut the tree down last October after fearing it could topple over.
But the stump was left exposed – wreaking havoc.
The video shows a white VW van having its bumper ripped off after driving over the stump.
The video has had more than 700,000 views and 662 comments.
Resident Gav Crayton has so far managed to dodge the stump himself and is leading the calls for it to be removed.
Speaking with, Stoke-on-Trent Live, Crayton said: “My car’s got parking sensors. But I’ve seen it happen a lot, it’s right outside my house.
“There are two drivers that I know of that have mounted it and there was one that scraped it a bit.
“It is frustrating for drivers who have hit it. It needs digging out and uprooting.”
The council has promised that they’ll remove the stump before Christmas.
A council spokesman said: “Stumps are normally left at one-metre height to make the post visible.
“We also take into account that road users will park vehicles safely and keep highways clear.
“In this instance, teams will have the stump removed.”
TikTok users were quick to comment below.
One said: “If they can’t see that then they don’t deserve to be driving as that could have been a child.”
Another said: “The amount of people who do not see anything in front of their car is frightening.”
A third pointed out: “Why can’t they remove it themselves?”
