Using your air-con to bring the temperatures closer together will rid your screen of mist.
If your aircon is broken, keeping the windows open can help clear the windscreen of condensation too.
Then you can begin to warm the car up gradually to a temperature that suits you.
If drivers fail to demist their windscreen, they can be fined up to £1,000 and get three points on their licence.
It’s also important to use your wipers to keep the screen clear.
Drivers should slow down to maintain a safe distance from the car in front when it’s raining.
Make sure you leave at least double the gap you normally would between yourself and the car in front.
Always use your dipped headlight if visibility is low.
The Highway code says: “You must use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced”, with ‘seriously reduced’ defined as when you are able to see less than 100m in front of you.
People were quick to comment on TikTok.
One user asked: “Why use air conditioning through the rain as I never do that and it will be a waste of fuel?
@drivingtestsucces answered: “It only needs to be used in short blasts to clear condensation.”
