This Love Actually fan theory argues there’s a secret love story we all missed

WHAT better way to gear up for Christmas than curing up in front of a festive film.

And 19 years since its release, Love Actually is STILL one of the nation’s best loved Christmas films.

Actually in love? One fan thinks Liam Neeson’s character hints he’s in love with his mate Karen (played by Emma Thompson)

While it might be almost two decades old it seems that fans are still cooking up theories about the classic.

Whether it’s hints that the actors actually hated filming certain scenes or details behind that famous kiss, the film certainly sparks conversations amongst fans.

Twitter users have even made the film trend online after revealing their theory’s behind the story line.

One fan, who was getting into the Christmas spirit by watching the movie, had the thought: What if Daniel (Liam Neeson) is actually in love with Karen (Emma Thompson)?

We have to admit, it would make a rather lovely twist. Particularly as neither character had a very happy story line in the film, which elsewhere was full of true love and general Christmas happiness.

If you remember, Emma Thompson’s Karen finds out her husband Harry (Alan Rickman) is having an affair with his secretary Mia, while Liam Neeson’s Daniel has just lost his wife and is struggling to deal with the grief along with looking after his step-son.

So what brings Jen Lewis to the conclusion that the two characters might actually be secretly in love?

Well, when Daniel bumps into his crush Claudia Schiffer at the end of the movie, he accidentally calls her Karen.

His reliable friend is on his mind as the beautiful model standing in front of him – surely that’s a sign of true love?

Unfortunately, when asked about the theory in a recent interview, it seems that Liam Neeson proved he didn’t quite remember the plot of the movie – confusing Daniel and Karen’s friendship for being siblings.

In an interview with Metro.co.uk he said: “She’s my sister. That is sick. I can’t believe you said that. She’s my sister!”

No Liam, your just best buds… and in love, we hope!

If you’re looking for an excuse to watch the film for the hundredth time… you can thank us later.
