MIKE Brewer has picked out three modern classic motors that petrolheads can buy right now and possibly sell for a profit in the future.

The much loved TV star, who hosts the motoring show Wheeler Dealers alongside Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley, has made a career of buying and selling used cars for a tidy sum.

In recent years, interest in ‘modern classics’ has risen among car fanatics with a wide range of motors from the 1990s and 2000s poised to rise in value as investments

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Mike said: “There’s some really good, affordable, cheap cars out there.

“You can literally buy them for disposable money today, have fun with them, get a return on your investment or even make a profit in the future.”

When asked to name his top picks for motors that drivers should consider snapping up, the car expert said: “Any fast Ford, a Ford Focus with an ST on the back or an RS on the back, they’re really good news.

You can buy one of those for sub £5,000 now

“I’ve been thinking about this recently, the early Audi TT, a Mk1 Audi TT, especially the 225.

“You can buy one of those for sub £5,000 now, and that’s an awful lot of bang for the buck.

“They were sold at a loss, they were much more engineered than what they got for them at showroom level.

“If you get the 225 horsepower one, what a great car.

“And of course a Mazda MX-5 of any generation, it’s an appreciating classic.”

Fans of Wheeler Dealers will be pleased to know the duo are back on Discovery later this month after an incredible world tour that sees them feature in episodes set across Europe as well as North America and even Down Under.

Filming the series wasn’t without its mishaps as Mike, 59, and Elvis, 47, revealed they were caught up in a car crash – resulting in them smashing through a motorway barrier.

This comes as Mike’s wife joked he was having a midlife crisis after announcing he’s flogging two of gorgeous personal cars.

The TV star admits that he’s preparing his fleet for a big sale as he’s seen polishing the top of his vintage ride.

Elsewhere, another motoring expert has urged drivers to snap up an underappreciated early 2000s modern classic that’s “like a mini Le Mans” racer.
