Musician apologises after ‘bombing’ at Coachella: ‘I will not let such a thing happen again’

Grimes has apologised to fans after her set at Coachella was riddled with “technical issues”.

The Canadian musician took to the stage on day two of the California music festival but it did not go according to plan.

About halfway into her 50-minute set, according to The Independent, she began to experience technical difficulties and screamed in frustration while trying to fix her set on the fly.

After several attempts at restarting a song, Grimes shared that her songs were playing out of sync.

“All my tracks are double tempo and I’m trying to do the math but they’re kind of un-mixable,” she told the crowd.

Despite her explanation, the Internet were quick to comment on the unfortunate performance with many taking to X to share their opinion.

“This could be the worst performance in the history of Coachella,” one user wrote.

“Grimes is bombing so bad at Coachella right now, it’s incredible,” wrote another.

Grimes later took to the social media platform herself to tell her own account and to apologise to fans.

“I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight,” Grimes wrote.

“I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm’s and letting someone else organize the tracks on the sd card etc.”

The musician continued to share that she “had a bad feeling beforehand” having not double-checked her equipment prior to the show.

Determined to come back from this weekend’s performance, Grimes has said she will organise her own gear for her next show at Coachella week two and promised a “flawless” performance.

“I will personally organize all the files next week. I will not let such a thing happen again. I’ve spent months on this show, making music and visuals, and admittedly am not in the best mood atm,” Grimes wrote.

“Next week will be flawless, everything will run thru my hands,” she continued.

“I’m sure you will crush the next performance,” commented another.
