Earthy had come on for Michail Antonio in the 82nd minute of the match to make his Premier League debut.
But his horror clash of heads with Alvarez sparked concerning scenes.
Earthy’s head collided with the floor as he fell, and he was given oxygen by the West Ham medical team while he was treated.
Fulham manager Marco Silva instantly ran onto the pitch to see that the youngster was okay.
The player was down for eight minutes while he received medical attention.
Earthy was then replaced by Maxwel Cornet after being taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
Earthy, 19, was making his Premier League debut after first appearing for West Ham against Freiburg in the Europa League last month.
He played four minutes at the end of West Ham’s round of 16 second leg, which they won 5-0.
West Ham’s official X account said the club were “all behind” Earthy following the horror injury.
They wrote: “George Earthy receives a head injury and is stretchered off the pitch.
“We’re all behind you, George ”
Fulham joined West Ham in wishing the player well, posting: “Hoping this is nothing too serious. Speedy recovery, George! ”
