The 17-year-old was asked by BBC Sport to play a game of “This or That” where he was given two options for each position in the starting 11.

Littler gave a balanced view at times when asked to choose between the two players, but fans online were unimpressed with a number of his choices.

The teen snubbed United’s £47m summer signing Andre Onana in favour of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker in net.

While he also chose Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson over Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw.

He then opted for two Man Utd stars to balance out his back line with Diogo Dalot making it over Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Maguire favoured instead of Jarell Quansah.

Littler made it clear he wanted “[Kobbie] Mainoo all day” when asked to choose between the England youngster and Wataru Endo.

While Dominik Szoboszlai and Bruno Fernandes completed his midfield with Scott McTominay and Alexis Mac Allister tossed to the wayside.

As for his front three, the Premier League darts league leader surprisingly chose Alejandro Garnacho over Luis Diaz on the left wing.

And after some consideration he reluctantly opted for Mohamed Salah over Rashford on the right side.

Before backing the Red Devils for a final time by naming Rasmus Hojlund as his starting striker over Darwin Nunez.

It’s safe to say a lot of fans disagreed with a number of Littler’s choices and wasted no time in voicing their opinions on social media.

One wrote: “Trent with a broken leg is better than Dalot!”

While another added: “The fact he had to think about the Rashford/Salah one… even as a united fan come on

A third commented: “Erm that is horrible!”

And a fourth joked: “Stick to darts mate.”

There will be no time for games when Man Utd and Liverpool do come head to head later on today.

The fierce rivalry represents a chance for United to bounce back from their disappointing 4-3 loss to Chelsea while Liverpool need to continue their red hot form to return to the summit of the Premier League.
