Horse racing tips: Templegate’s 11-2 NAP has bags of appeal with champion jockey William Buick booked for glory

TEMPLEGATE takes on Saturday’s all-weather action confident of finding a few winners.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse by clicking their odds below.

BETHERSDEN BOY (1.15 Lingfield, nap)

He has been knocking on the door and the booking of champion jockey William Buick looks a shrewd move by trainer Richard Hughes.

Dropping in trip could also pay dividends for this front-runner.

ALGIERS (3.33 Lingfield, nb)

He was just pipped in another Listed race over course and distance last month when nailed right on the line.

This trip is ideal and he can go one better this time.

BARENBOIM (12.05 Lingfield, treble)

There was plenty left in the tank crossing the line in front at Kempton last time so a 7lb rise in the weights is fine.

There could be more to offer now he takes a slight step up in distance.

Templegate’s ITV Racing guide

LINGFIELD

1.50

REAL ESTATE has dropped to 1lb lower than his last win, which came over this course and distance.

He ran better than sixth place suggests at Chelmsford last time and looks a big price to hit the frame.

Admirable Lad landed a hat-trick of wins before a solid second at Chelmsford last time.

He still looks on a fair mark and should be right there.

Lothian ran right up to his best when second at Kempton last time out in October despite not getting the run of the race.

He is fine over this distance and is right in the hunt.

Perfect Symphony was less than a length away when third over 5f here latest. He’s at home over this trip too and the handicapper has left his mark alone.

Hot Legs Lil is another tumbling down the weights and could bounce back in this modest company.

2.25

UMMSUQUAIM didn’t have to hit top gear to land a cosy win over course and distance 17 days ago.

The handicapper has been fair with a 3lb rise and this race looks no tougher.

Pablo Prince won in a photo on his last run here in August. He’s been going well enough at Kempton since then but coming back here from just 1lb higher than this victory gives him an obvious chance.

Capricorn Prince got no luck in running when seventh here over 2m last time.

Dropping to this trip looks a wise move. He can be hit and miss but his best form puts him right in this.

Pledge Of Peace is consistent around here and has had a little nudge down the weights. He has solid each-way claims.

Vision Of Hope is worth a market check on his handicap debut for George Boughey.

He has plenty to find on form but goes up markedly in trip here which may bring improvement.

3.00

TAHASUN is going up in class but she loves it around Lingfield and battled well to score here last time.

She is getting weight from most of her rivals and is best over this trip, which can’t be said about a couple of the others.

Queen Of Ipanema just keeps winning but she had to dig very deep at Wolverhampton last time.

She’s now 31lb higher than the beginning of her unbeaten run so will need to pull out a bit more.

Sea Tsarina is the most interesting runner from William Haggas. She won her maiden well over a mile here before getting stuck in the mud at Thirsk.

This longer trip should be ideal and the yard continues in excellent form.

Tequilamockingbird got her head in front here 18 days ago and is only 1lb higher today.

She has raced a lot for her age but is consistent and this trip is ideal.

Sweet Fantasy scored at Southwell and was just behind the tip when they met here. She needs a bit more to take this.

3.33

ALGIERS was unlucky not to win a Listed race around here last month when he was collared right on the line.

That was over this distance and a repeat of that effort would be good enough this time.

Harrovian was third in that contest and may have needed the run after four months off.

He is best over this trip and William Buick is a positive in the saddle.

Gosden stablemate Forest Of Dean won last year’s Winter Derby but hasn’t been able to match that form since.

He didn’t get going behind Algiers and Harrovian last time and has something to prove now.

Makinmedoit deserves this step out of handicap company having battled to score over course and distance latest.

This is clearly much tougher but her liking for the track is a plus. The other two have plenty to find.

CHELMSFORD

2.05

VITESSE DU SON won a very similar race to this at Wolverhampton on Monday night with a fair bit in the tank so can follow up.

He should be able to cope with a 5lb penalty for that success and is the one to beat.

Nick Vedder looks solid each-way after back-to-back thirds.

He was less than a length off the pace at Kempton before the winner nicked it off the final bend at Wolver eight days ago.

He’s fine dropping back to a mile and will be competitive again.

Eagle Eyed Freddie is as consistent at they come at this lowly level and went close off this handicap mark at Wolverhampton last week.

He likes to go from the front and could fend them all off, although he’s likely to find one too good.

Heer’s Sadie didn’t fire at Lingfield last time but went close there two starts ago and her rider takes off a valuable 7lb which could see her make the places.

Lake Sand Likes it here and wasn’t beaten far last time.

2.40

CLASSY DAME looks a big price if able to find her best form from a falling handicap mark.

She was just better than midfield at Wolverhampton last time but was bumped and blocked a few times.

Trainer Archie Watson drops her in trip here and that could help her hit the frame in what looks a wide open contest.

Lord Paramount got off the mark nicely at Wolver 12 days ago. He enjoyed stepping up to this distance and had a bit left in the tank.

An opening handicap mark of 70 could be a little generous and you would expect more improvement on just his fifth run.

Got No Dollars went close at long odds at Kempton last time. He is now close to his last winning mark and gets on well with his 5lb claiming rider.

Ostilio has won stronger races than this in his time including at Yarmouth five starts ago.

He has taken a while to get going this winter but this trip should suit and he’s not dismissed down in class.

Free Solo ran well over course and distance two runs ago and will be happier back here than Kempton where he was modest last time.

He’s another shortlisted.

3.15

ELEGANT ELLEN came flying home here for third last time after missing the break.

She was under the pump for a long time but kept pulling out more as she was beaten just a length.

The handicapper has left her weight alone and this looks her best chance to get off the mark on her third run for Amy Murphy.

Veteran Shamshon is another who came home strongly on their latest run.

He kept on at Wolver over five furlongs and this step up in trip should help.

He was beaten a neck from a 2lb higher mark the last time he tackled this course and distance so should be right there.

Black Box was far from disgraced in fourth at Wolver last week. She was coming back from a break so could do better here.

Watch the betting for clues about Delagate The Lady.

She has winning form around here and makes her debut for Robyn Brisland. Her wide draw doesn’t help though.

Amazing Amaya was beaten far last time and steps back up in trip with each-way claims.

Company Minx went close here two runs ago and has place prospects again.
