She posted a video which begins with her asking the question: “Why do veteran drivers always have potatoes in their car?

“Do you think it’s just for fun?”

She adds: “Of course not. Potatoes have several wonderful uses in cars.”

Wing mirror clean

Next Chequanxiaoqiao points to a wing mirror that has collected water droplets.

She takes a potato and wipes it back and forth before revealing – after rinsing – that all the water droplets are gone.

Next the petrol-head moves on to another way the humble potato can be used.

Cleaning lights

After using lights for a long time the metal parts on the front can collect rust which is difficult to remove.

“You just need to point the cross section of the potato at it and wipe it gently,” says Chequanxiaoqiao.

She added: “Flush with water and the rust will be cleared away.”

Coffee cup clean

Many drivers like to drink coffee when they’re behind the wheel and the bottom of the cup can collect stubborn dirt.

But luckily the savvy woman has a trick up her sleeve.

“I put chopped potatoes in it,” she says.

Then she adds water and waits three minuites.

When the time is up the stain has been removed.

Oil on windshield

When a car hasn’t been cleaned in a while a film of oil can form on the windshield and the side windows.

But, if you wipe it with a potato and rinse it with water “the glass will become clean and translucent.”

The TikToker finished the video by saying: “Absolutely practical potato knowledge.”
