Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson remembers father Rocky Johnson’s ‘tough’ parenting in tribute video

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took the time to remember his father, Rocky “Soulman” Johnson with a tribute video.

The actor, celebrated the end of Black History Month by remembering the legacy of his father, who was part of the first ever Black Heavyweight Tag Team Champions for the WWE, along with “Mr USA” Tony Atlas.

In the video, he posted a clip of his victorious dad to the tune of My Old Man by Zac Brown. The clip of Rocky coincides with the lyric “He was a giant”, before the next shot showed the Rock as a teenager watching on, with the lyrics continuing, “and I was just a kid, I was always trying.”

The 51-year-old opened up about his childhood and regrets about his father.

“My regret in this life is that I never had a chance to say goodbye to him, because he died suddenly. I regret not reconciling our complicated father/son s— before I lost him. Raised me with tough fatherly love and an even tougher hand. The more I live life, the more grateful I am for it. See you down the road, Soulman.”

It comes as the legend makes a comeback to the WWE, coming out of the retirement he announced in 2019, appearing on WWE Raw and thrilling the crowd in San Diego two months ago.

The WWE legend received a standing ovation from fans as he walked out on stage – before delivering a powerful speech that seemingly challenged fellow WWE champion Roman Reigns, billed as his ”cousin” in the sport.

During his speech, The Rock asked the crowd if they think he should ”sit at the head of the table” when he goes for dinner – a dig at Tribal Chief Reigns who often says he sits at the head of the table while performing for fans.

“I’m gonna go get something to eat… Should The Rock sit in a booth? Or should The Rock sit at the bar?” The Rock said in his speech to cheers from the crowd.

He added: “Or should The Rock sit… at the head of the table?”

It means Aussie WWE fans have a high chance of seeing The Rock live in action in Perth in February during the “Elimination Chamber,” or WrestleMania 40 in April in the U.S.
