Matildas star Hayley Raso sends Taylor Swift fans into a frenzy with one hand gesture as the team qualifies for the Olympics

The Matildas made Aussie fans proud on Wednesday when they qualified for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 after beating Uzbekistan 10-0.

During the match, one simple hand gesture from soccer player Hayley Raso got Taylor Swift fans talking, with some thinking it might even be a nod to the singer, who has just wrapped up her sold out Australian tour.

During the match, winger Raso, 29, made a heart hand symbol, and some Swifties said it references Swift’s Fearless era – she famously makes the hand gesture when performing the song of the same name.

Underneath a post from the Matildas, in which Raso flashes the love heart, fans remarked: ”It’s fearless”.

Another Swiftie shared a GIF of Taylor doing the heart hands.

9Honey Celebrity notes that a lot of athletes do this hand symbol while on the field, and there’s every chance Raso was not referencing Swift.

“The heart-hand symbol means something between ‘I love you’ and ‘thank you,'” Swift previously told The New York Times.

“It’s just a sweet, simple message that you can deliver without saying a word.

“At the end of my sophomore year, I left school and went out on a radio tour to play free show after free show. I was an unknown act playing shows night after night, and I was constantly trying out all kinds of different moves to try and get a response from the audience.”

Just weeks ago, Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce was spotted going the hand gesture in a nod to his superstar girlfriend.

“I’ll never forget singing with Sabrina, the chaotic acoustic mashups, and the crowds that were louder (singing AND screaming) than I thought humanly possible,” she continued.

“I want to thank all of the Aussie fans for being so positive and passionate, so funny and wild and FUN. Love you forever 🤍” she signed off with a heart emoji.
