‘We need these’ vow supermarket shoppers as large Easter eggs slashed to £2 from TODAY and they’re the cheapest around

A MAJOR supermarket has slashed the price of its Easter eggs today with deals starting from £2.

Sainsbury’s has reduced the price of some of its large Easter eggs to just £2 for all Nectar card holders in the run-up to the holiday.

A Cadbury Mini Easter egg is now £2 with a ClubCard instead of £3.25

A large Cadbury Creme Easter egg is now £2 with a ClubCard instead of £3.25

The range includes different branded eggs such as Cadbury and Galaxy and most of the deals save you up to 37%.

Top offers on delicious branded eggs available include:

Cadbury Mini Eggs Large Shell Egg 193g – now £2 (£3.25 without Nectar)

Smarties Large Egg 188g – now £2 (£3.25 without Nectar)

Celebrations Large Egg, 220g – now £2 (£3.25 without Nectar)

Galaxy Minstrels Large Egg, 234g – now £2 (£3.25 without Nectar)

Before the offer most large-size chocolate Easter eggs were priced between £3 to £4 and this will be the price if you purchase the chocolate eggs without a Nectar card.

If you’re looking for more luxury Sainsbury’s is also lowering the price of selected Premium Eggs as well.

Below are the Taste the Difference Premium Eggs available which will be available with Nectar Prices:

It’s important to note all of the eggs come in different sizes but that won’t change the Nectar card price.

The deal is available in stores and online now, running from February 28 until March 5.

You may need to head to a few different stores if you’re after a specific Easter egg.

Sainsbury’s ended a previous deal yesterday which gave Nectar card users a chance to bag extra large easter eggs for £4.

By comparison extra large Easter eggs otherwise known as “giant” Easter eggs usually go for around £5 to £11.

Nectar Card: The three simple ways to get one

How does the loyalty scheme work?

Nectar card holders can collect points when shopping in-store and online.

You receive one loyalty point for every £1 spent with Sainsbury’s.

You also get one point for every £1 spent on fuel bought at Sainsbury’s petrol stations and can pick up points at hundreds of partners as well, including Esso and eBay.

The Nectar Card also gives customers exclusive discounts on hundreds of products in the same way a Tesco Clubcard does.

You can register and download an e-Nectar Card by downloading the app on your smartphone.

Alternatively, you can join in-store or register on their website.

All you do is swipe the card every time you shop and points will be added to your account so you can get money off future purchases.

Each point is effectively worth 0.5p, meaning you need 500 points to get £2.50 off.

Tesco launched a similar deal last week with a selection of more than 20 large chocolate Easter dropping in price to £2 for all Clubcard users.

Similarly, Morrisons has slashed the price of its Easter eggs to 75p if you have a More card.

Remember it is always good to shop around to make sure you are getting the cheapest deal.

The closer it gets to Easter the more likely it is that other retailers will start competing to be the cheapest in a bid to get your cash.

You can use shopping comparison tools such as Google Shopping and Trolley.co.uk to compare the cost of items across different retailers.

Also, remember that there is a chance you can get a different offer in-store to what is online so keep your eyes peeled.
