Just 20 seconds into Man Utd’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday, the former Liverpool star spotted a baffling tactical quirk.
Carragher, 46, was left baffled by the Red Devils’ tactical set-up, spotting Kobbie Mainoo being left stranded in the midfield – with United’s attackers trying to press, but their defenders remaining in a low block.
Following Carra’s critique on Monday Night Football, Ten Hag took a swipe back, suggesting that the former defender is biased against his team.
Never one to shy away from criticism, Carragher doubled down by making a still image from his Man Utd analysis his header on X.
Spotting what Carra had done, one wound up United fan wrote “??”, followed by two crying emojis.
A second responded: “This is a serious problem.”
While a third moaned: “Carragher is too petty.”
A fourth conceded: “that’s actually pretty funny.”

But another added: “Isn’t it getting too much. Ten Hag was right in his presser today.”
Carragher had said of the Red Devils: “Twenty seconds into the game against Fulham, it’s been the problem for Manchester United all season, there’s space between the back four and the midfield.
“We go to the reason why they’re poor defensively and can’t cope with counter-attacks, they’ve got no pace at the back and a lack of legs in midfield.
“People say: ‘there’s no patterns of play at Manchester United, how do they play and what’s the philosophy?’.”
Speaking to the press ahead of tonight’s FA Cup fifth round clash against Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag hit back: “First of all, some analysts are very objective in their comments, very good advice, some are very subjective.
“Jamie Carragher from the first moment on has criticised and now he wants to make his point.”
He then added: “Probably in the first half an hour, yeah, he had a point.
“The way Fulham set up their midfield was a surprise and then we have to find the solutions.
“After half an hour we found the solutions.”
