Jurgen Klopp’s side secured the silverware thanks to Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds went into the Wembley showdown without a number of key players due to injuries.
Striker Darwin Nunez and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai were two of those absent but they both still managed to make their presence felt.
Uruguayan Nunez, 24, was sat in the stands for the showdown but he did not stay there long after the full-time whistle.
His team-mate Szoboszlai, 23, was another that could not contain themselves as he also raced on to join the party.
Afterwards Klopp said: “Darwin and Dom are not fit, that’s why they didn’t play, but in the celebrations they looked 100 per cent.
“So I will have to speak with the medical department about that.”
The triumph was Liverpool’s 10th League Cup win.
And it was also the first of Klopp‘s farewell tour after he announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
He said: “In my 20 years, this is easily the most special trophy.
“I couldn’t care less about my legacy. I was not here to create one. This was so special.”
THe injury problems that Klopp five players aged 20 or below ended up featuring as the average age of the team that finished the match ended up being below 22.
Klopp added: “What happened here was absolutely insane, these things are not possible.
“The team, a squad, an academy full of character.
“I am so proud I could be part of that tonight.
“The craziest thing is, we deserved it. We had lucky moments, they had lucky moments.
“The boys showed up, it was really cool.”
