WHEELER Dealers host Mike Brewer has urged drivers to seriously think about investing in a number of ‘future classics’ – including a ‘phenomenal’ Mazda.
The trader-turned-presenter is well known for spotting hot motoring trends and picked five used cars he thinks will be rising in value in the years to come.

In a video posted to Car Dealer Magazine‘s YouTube channel, he revealed that the question “what is a future classic” is one he’s “always asked” by enthusiasts.
Some models he put his finger on include “any Aston Martin or Jaguar that’s currently out there”, but the TV star delved deeper into where he’d put his “smart money” in today’s market.
Renault Clio ‘Williams’ (1993)

The first iconic motor Mike mentions is the elusive Clio Williams that was built in the early 1990s.
Mike said: “If you can find the first gen then you’ll be in the money.”
Renault built three generations of this limited edition model to captialise on the French manufacture’s association and success with the F1 team Williams.
Just 3,800 cars were built, with each boasting a numbered plaque on the dashboard, although these sold out quickly and Renault did end up building 1,600 more.
Despite that, hot hatchback is considered a rare classic by car buffs.
Audi R8

Described by Sun Motors as a “timeless classic” after a test drive last year, the Audi R8 is truly one of the world’s best loved supercars.
Sadly, the German beast is heading towards the end of its production run – with the company confirming the that legendary model is coming to an end.
Due to this, and because of how widely appreciate it is by petrolheads, Mike said: “In terms of price, it’s bounced and now it’s on its way back up because people have appreciated just how good they are.”
Mazda RX-7

Mazda‘s iconic sports car has had several different iterations over the years across three generations, all of which made use of a compact, lightweight rotary engine, that started with the original that first rolled off production lines in 1987.
It packs plenty of power too; according to UltimateSpecs, the second gen model can hit up to 156mph – enough to compete with much pricier rivals.
Mike said: “It’s just a phenomenal little car, it’s got so much going for it it.”
Lexus LS (1989 to 1994)

From sporty to luxury, Mike’s next pick is the lovely Lexus LS – which he describes as a “big Mercedes” that was “taken back to Japan and made better.”
Mike said: “A couple of years ago you could buy them for less than £1,000, today you’re looking at spending £3,000 to £5,000 – so that tells you one thing.”
The car expert goes onto describe it as a “modern classic” that’s on the way up.
Porsche 924

Mike said the easiest and cheapest way to get “that Stuggart badge” is by picking up the much-loved Porsche 924 – one of the most iconic motors of the 1980s.
Mike said: “If you can’t get a 911, if that’s too expensive, you go for the next one down and you’re going to go for a 944.
“And if you can’t get the 944 Turbo because they’re now getting expensive, you go for the next one down again which is a 924.”
With its sleek, aerodynamic design and pop-up headlights, the 924 is a seriously cool motor to buy and certainly won’t break the bank.
Wheeler Dealers’ Mike Brewer shares agonising update on stolen Ford Fiesta
Mike Brewer has updated fans on the plight of his stolen Ford Fiesta.
He and Marc restored the MkI car themselves, spending over £11,000 on it before it was pinched in June 2023.
Asked on X if he had any luck in tracking it down, he replied: “Fiesta still stolen.
“If it’s recovered, which I very much doubt now I would shout about it on social media.”
The presenter even offered a £5,000 reward for those who could help him recover the beloved car.
This comes as another motors expert included the Porsche 944 Coupe S2 in his own list of affordable modern classics to consider buying.
MotorGrid’s car expert said: “You can get a rotter from about £3,000 to something that is relatively in good condition for £15,000.”
Elsewhere, an Audi R8 supercar that was left abandoned and “rotting” for five years has been discovered and revived by a group of car-detailing experts.
